Macbeth
Scenic & Lighting Designer - 1/4" concept model
The deterioration of the Macbeths' minds is represented in material form with rusted sheet metal as the walls in this production. The mix of classical and modern materials with the stone and metal evoke the cold and stony hearts of the royal couple as they spiral downward into insanity. As the show progresses the lighting becomes stark, harsh, and white; a move towards the asylum of the Macbeths' mind. In the final scene the tree flys, which play separately in previous scenes, actually inhabit the space of the Macbeth's castle as the forest both symbolically and tangibly comes to Dunsinane.
